Flat Roofing

Aesthetic Roofing proudly offers flat roof installation and repair to homeowners and businesses in Northern Utah. Put simply, a flat roof is a roof that features a flat design instead of one with a peak or angle. It can protect your home or business from a variety of weather-related damages while keeping your property cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Our roofers are here to help you select the right flat roof and professionally install it on time and on budget.

4 Types of Flat Roofing

There are four major types of flat roofs, including:

Rubber Membrane Flat Roof

A rubber membrane flat roof is made out of ethylene propylene diene monomer, or EPDM. While this surface is a lot like a smooth rubber tire, it’s engineered to withstand intense, direct sunlight.

TPO Flat Roof

Thermoplastic Polyolefin, or TPO can be unrolled and heat welded. If you go this route, you’ll enjoy a bond that is four times more durable than an EPDM roof.

Built-Up Roof

A built-up roof or BUR is a traditional flat roof made out of hot tar and gravel. If  you have one of these roofs, we suggest you upgrade to a more durable option.

Modified Bitumen

Also known as Mod-Bit, Modified Bitumen is a type of rolled roof. It features asphalt paired with polymerized rubber or plastic. This type of flat roofing is reinforced to fiberglass, allowing for a rugged yet flexible membrane.

Benefits of Flat Roofing

The most noteworthy advantages of flat roofs include:

Affordability

Since the materials used to construct flat roofs are relatively inexpensive, you won’t pay an arm and a leg for one.

Energy Efficiency

Compared to sloped roofs, flat roofs offer greater energy efficiency due to their membrane system that’s applied on top of the sheet of insulation and blocks the passage of air.

Easy Maintenance

Flat roofs are a breeze to maintain as you can access every part of it and prevent the build up  of mold, algae, stains, and debris.
